This was a powerpoint presentation for my Digital Reference course. The assignment was to share typical public library resources that would be useful for customers seeking help with “typical” reference questions. Each student presented a topic of interest to them, so there was comprehensive coverage on a wide variety of subject matters.
Because of the current economic situation, as well as because the customers of the branch at which I work are always requesting items like these, I chose to cover resources helpful for do-it-yourself home projects (construction and repair) as well as crafts/arts (the Etsy website has boomed) and in 2011 EBSCO introduced a brand new resource: the Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center at the behest of public librarians.
